Our story

For 30 years, Vital Buffalo Farm has been rooted in a belief that agriculture and conservation can work together.

“Farming buffalo is about more than raising livestock. It's about protecting something worth passing down.”

Vital Buffalo Farm

“Conservation isn't just about protecting the past—it's about making sure there's something worth passing on. Preserve the land. Respect the wildlife. Pass it forward.”

Meet Geronimo

Geronimo, Vital Buffalo Farm's mascot

Geronimo was Vital Buffalo Farm's beloved mascot and founding bull. The farm began with three female buffalo and a bull named Geronimo, and by 2023 he had sired more than 60 buffalo. He lived 24 years. That is a long life for a bison: in the wild, bison typically live 12 to 15 years, and a few reach 20.
